Strong National Defense
Strong National Defense – Americans must be capable of proactively protecting the nation and its citizens. Our armed forces must be ready to act anywhere in the world where vital national interests are threatened. This can be achieved by giving the military the resources it needs to keep us safe and maintain freedom.
› Excessive central control is inconsistent with national security and should be avoided. Generally, national security is hampered by excessive legislation and regulation, which hurts the ability of the military industrial base to produce goods and services quickly and efficiently.
› A strong national defense is dependent on a well armed citizenry. To preserve freedom it is essential that the whole body of people always possess arms. Arms discourage and keep the invader and the plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property. Any restriction to the right of the citizen to bear Arms weakens the national security of any nation and such restrictions must be resisted.
